I am a parent. I love being a parent. Somehow, though, this has not qualified me for being the perfect parent--surprise surprise! So I write this blog from the trenches of parenting just hoping to find a better way to do what we parents do.
The other day I was on a plane without my kids. I haven't been away from them for more than a few hours at a time since they were born except to be in the hospital for a couple of days at a time (usually to have another baby). I found myself missing them like crazy! On the plane I was sitting behind a little family. A mom, a dad, two daughters around 7 and 9 and a little boy just more than a year old. I loved watching them. They were nice. When the baby was overly tired and screaming they held him, met his needs to the best of their ability and waited for sleep to come. They didn't do anything that I would have done--tense up, become a little embarrassed and stress out. Watching them made me remember that parenting isn't about parents, it's all about the kids!
